🚀 Exciting news: you can now link your 1Password app with SigmaOS!

That means you can use TouchID to unlock your 1Password vault, fill out your passwords swiftly, and keep your login details snug.

This has been the #1 feature request in SigmaOS, so we’re thrilled to release this feature to you all!

There are only 4 steps to set it up. We promise it's worth it:

Instructions 🔧

1️⃣ Update SigmaOS to v.1.11+

Click here to update your SigmaOS app to the latest version. You should be on version 1.11 or above. If you can’t find the update, message us on the community.

2️⃣ Update the 1Password 8 app to Nightly

For the app to be able to recognize SigmaOS, you need to be using the latest 1Password Nightly update.

You can skip this section if you’re already using the 1Password Nightly app.

  • Open the 1Password app (if you don’t have yet, download 1Password 8 here)
  • Go to Settings > Advanced
    • Set the Release channel to “Nightly”
  • Go to Settings > About
    • Click "Check for updates" and install the update

3️⃣ Download the 1Password extension

For the app to be able to talk to SigmaOS, you need to have installed the 1Password Extension on SigmaOS.

You can skip this section if you’re already using the 1Password Extension.

4️⃣ Authorize SigmaOS

Last step! Now all you need to do is to choose SigmaOS as your browser in the 1Password 8 Nightly app.

  • Open the 1Password app
  • Go to Settings > Browser
    • Click "Add Browser"
    • Select the SigmaOS 1Password Linker app in your Applications folder

Can’t find the SigmaOS 1Password Linker app❓

Is 1Password is your default password manager on SigmaOS? If not, please set it (option-P > select 1Password). This is necessary, otherwise the linker app doesn’t get created.

Is the SigmaOS app in your Applications folder? If not, please move it (you can also reinstall SigmaOS by downloading it from our website).

If it still doesn’t work, there’s an alternative solution. This requires you to navigate inside the SigmaOS app to select the process that communicates with 1Password. This is called “SigmaOS (Helper)”.

  • Open the 1Password app
  • Go to Settings > Browser
    • Click "Add Browser"
    • Find SigmaOS in your Applications folder and right-click > Show in Finder
  • (in Finder) right-click SigmaOS > Show Package Contents.
    • Navigate to Contents > Resources > SigmaOSHelper
  • Drag the “SigmaOS (Helper)” app into the 1Password panel and click "Open"

That’s it! 🎉

You’re now all set, and can use the 1Password app with SigmaOS!

This is a new feature, so we’d love to hear more about your experience and if you found these instructions easy to follow.
