Migration Guide: From Arc to SigmaOS 🚀

🚀 Exciting news: you can now migrate your Arc setup to SigmaOS!

Welcome to SigmaOS! 👋

Hello hello, this is Ali, Mahyad, and Saurav from SigmaOS – we're thrilled to have you here!

Since 2020, we’ve been working hard to build the best browser that helps you stay focused – that's why we care so much about structure, shortcuts, focus mode, and reducing noise on your screen.

Whether you're moving over from Arc by choice or by necessity, our goal is to make this transition as easy and delightful as possible.

Instructions 🔧

1️⃣ Make sure SigmaOS is up-to-date

Click here to update your SigmaOS app to the latest version. If you can’t find the update, message us on the community.

2️⃣ Bring over your Arc setup

The first thing you'll want to do is bring over all your important data from Arc to SigmaOS so you can pick up right where you left off. We've made sure this process is as seamless as possible. Here’s everything you can bring to SigmaOS:

  • 🗂️ Your entire setup: spaces, favorites, pinned tabs, daily tabs
  • 🕰️ Your browsing history
  • 🧩 Your browser extensions
  • 🍪 Your cookies and logins
  • 🔑 Your saved passwords (later)

New users:

When you first install SigmaOS, you'll see an option to migrate from another browser. Simply select Arc from the list and let SigmaOS guide you through importing your bookmarks, history, saved passwords, cookies, and extensions.

Existing users:

Open the Lazy Search by pressing Space or Cmd + T. Type in "Migrate Browser", select Arc. You can then use the adjust what you’d like to import and follow the simple steps.

💡

Note: you might be asked to enter your device password. This is required if you decide to import your cookies so that we can access the cookie storage location on your computer.

3️⃣ Bring over your Arc Passwords

If you stored any website credentials in Arc, you can bring that too SigmaOS too

  • Open the Arc app
    • Visit arc://password-manager/settings
    • Next to ‘Export passwords’ click on ‘Download file’, it will download a .csv file
  • Open SigmaOS
    • Search for ‘Import Passwords’ in the Lazy Search (hit space)
    • Click ‘Select file’ and choose the .csv file you just exported from Arc
